A road into the Void and back

From a small server called dragonflight.su in 2022 — through records, sleepless nights and painful failures — to Luntares and World of Warcraft: Midnight in 2026. This is our story, unvarnished.

How it began

We were never a corporation. We're a handful of people who love World of Warcraft too much to simply play it. This chronicle is about how a dream caught fire twice, nearly burned to ash once, and was reborn in the end.

How it went

2022The beginning

dragonflight.su is born

It all started with a handful of enthusiasts and one rented server. We knew almost nothing — except one thing: we were madly in love with this game. First players, first bugs, first sleepless nights. dragonflight.su became our home.

2023Finding our feet

Learning on the fly

The community grew. We rewrote the core, patched the emulation, argued about balance until dawn. The first traditions appeared, the first server legends, and friends we'd never seen in person.

2024Birth

Luntares is born

The project outgrew its old name. dragonflight.su became Luntares — not just a new label, but a new bar to clear. Under that name we took on the hardest update in our history and began preparing The War Within launch. It felt like we were ready for anything.

The War Within. 1500 online

A day we'll never forget. At The War Within launch, the online count soared to 1500 players at once — our absolute record. Chat drowned in congratulations, the servers groaned under the load, and for the first time we believed we had made it.

And then it all came apart

The triumph lasted mere hours. That same day, under the record load, the infrastructure collapsed: lag, endless crashes, progress rollbacks. Content bugs we hadn't cleaned up in time piled up one after another. By the night of April 19 not a trace of the euphoria remained — and the players melted away with it. It hurt — and it was our fault.

Winter 2025Rethinking

Lessons in the ashes

Instead of shutting down, we stopped and answered honestly: what went wrong. We rewrote the architecture from scratch — a new core, fault tolerance and an obsession with quality in every detail. We stopped chasing hype. We were building a foundation.

2026The return

We're coming back

After the fall and a long reckoning with our mistakes, Luntares returns — tempered, rethought, ready. World of Warcraft: Midnight, the Void Storm over Quel'Thalas, and a server built to take a hit. We learned the lessons. And this time, everything came out better-built.
